Dear NAJ family: After discussion with staff, conversations with community members, and data trends regarding infection, we have decided to resume in person learning on January 4 rather than January 11, if the government does not issue a shut down order. Our staff has worked tirelessly to provide online instruction and have done well, but these times have confirmed that the best place for kids is in the building with direct instruction from our professional educators. The mental health strain on families is high and I believe the long term effects of being away from school outweigh all other factors. Covid is something we will have to deal with, but I don’t want it to prevent us from helping our kids get the personal education and services they need and deserve. We are looking forward to being back to in person learning and are confident that 2021 will be a phenomenal year for all of us! If you have any questions, please reach out to me through my personal cell phone at 810-730-7473, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
Attention NA-J Families: In order for your student to be counted as present and earn a passing grade, he or she must log in daily and complete work Monday through Friday each week. If you are experiencing issues with internet connection, a laptop or an iPad, or knowing how to check your student’s progress, please contact your child's teacher, or call Wes Johnson at (810) 730-7473 or Valerie Trott at (517) 937-8983. We are here to help. Thank you.
Dear friends and colleagues, I wanted to give you and update on school resuming in person. Although I know we all want to get back to the building and are scheduled to do so next week, the health department of Hillsdale County has indicated that we are one of the most infected counties in the region right now, and as more of our staff and students are quarantined or infected, we are electing to extend our online only instruction until January 11. The governor's press conference inferred another potential shut down and in order to get the necessary food for the lunch and breakfast programs, we would have to order by today and we couldn't wait any longer to take action. We wanted to give parents and guardians adequate time to get child care arrangements. I truly apologize for any inconvenience, but the risks are simply too high right now. Your children's and my staff's safety well always be my top concern. Thank you for supporting us during these difficult times and better days are ahead for all of us. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Sincerely Yours, Wes Johnson

Due to MHSAA regulations, we must now only have MS volleyball twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-6. This was changed from every week day. This will continue until the governor releases restrictions on meetings in the gym.
On September 2 and 3 IN PERSON student schedules will be available from 8-3. If those times do not work for you, email Superintendent Wes Johnson, at email@example.com and we will send you the schedule through your email. Additionally, those who have chosen the ONLINE option, will be able to sign their device contract and pick up their device on September 3 between 8-3. Regardless of your student's grade level, we are asking ALL students to pick their devices up in the HS office. We can make different arrangements if you are unable to come here during regular business hours. Please call or text Wes' cell at 810-730-7473 if you have questions. Thank you.
MS Volleyball will be held weekdays 4-6 behind the school. We can still accept new players if you are interested!

Although we are disappointed that the bond did not pass, we have learned a great deal about what we can do in the future. Only 5 votes separated us from passing it and I am confident we can garner more support in our next attempt, which will probably be in November or early in 2021. The future is bright for our district and people are seeing that. I want to personally thank you for supporting us and I am proud to be the leader of NAJ. Sometimes we have to wait for the things we want, but be assured that it will be worth the wait. Thanks, Wes

As a precautionary measure, we will equip each classroom with ultraviolet lights that will be on at night and kill all bacteria in the room, including COVID. We will be sanitizing rooms with other substances, but the UV rays are proven to be very effective as a disinfectant. We will also offer face shields that are 100% transparent and what you would use in a school science lab, for each student, if you choose to take one. We want to give each student a safe environment, but also have the special touch that makes a school a great place to be. Thank you for your support!
Attention please. Due to dangerous heat indexes for the week, all football and volleyball workouts are postponed. Thank you. .
